The movies have us believing that a dramatic chest-clutch is the truest sign of a heart attack. But, that’s far from the truth. While that is one sign of a heart attack, there are others that are less obvious that are important to know. Discover several heart attack symptoms in men:
Chest Pain
One of the most common heart attack symptoms in men is chest pain or chest pressure. Often, men have reported that this feeling of pressure occurs in the left or the center of their chest. It’s important to discuss with your doctor how your chest pain feels, how long it lasts, and other accompanying symptoms.
Pain in Your Upper Body
If you feel sharp pain in your jaw, neck, back, shoulders, teeth, or left arm, your heart is alerting you that something is wrong. Sharp pain beneath your waste is rarely a sign of a heart attack.
Shortness of Breath
How well your heart pumps blood is directly affected to your breathing. If you experience shortness of breath during activities that don’t require much exertion such as lying down, watching television, or walking a short distance, your heart may be struggling to pump an adequate amount of blood.
Other signs of a heart attack include dizziness, anxiety, and vomiting. If you have one or more of these symptoms, talk to your Middle Georgia Heart doctor immediately. Your doctor will run tests to determine if you have an underlying heart condition and create a treatment plan for you.
